The National Independent Automobile Dealers Association honored the association’s scholarships and Crystal Eagle award winners during its recent convention.

Chelsea Mallams of Livonia, Mich., was recognized at the banquet as the winner of the $10,000 NIADA/Cox Automotive Scholarship to Northwood University.

The sophomore automotive marketing and management major at Northwood grew up around the auto industry – both of her parents work in the automotive sector – and during the summer and winter breaks from school she works at a local dealership.

Mallams has made the honor roll/dean's list every semester of her college career and is active in volunteer work as a member of Alpha Gamma Delta and the Student United Way. She plans to serve as a tutor at Northwood's learning center in the coming academic year.

The NIADA Foundation also awarded scholarships to deserving students from each of the association's four regions. The recipients were Marina Beshai of Severn, Md. (Region I), Gabriel Culbreth of Troutman, N.C. (Region II), Maxwell Martini of Corpus Christi, Texas (Region III) and Kyle Sherick of Ravensdale, Wash. (Region IV).

In addition, 13 NIADA members were presented with the Crystal Eagle award in recognition of their outstanding efforts in generating new members for NIADA.
